During his visit to Kazakhstan, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the ‘Central Asia – China’ summit. This was reported by the state news agency TDH.
The parties discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation, emphasising the high level of strategic partnership between the countries.
Xi Jinping noted the importance of relations with Turkmenistan and expressed confidence in strengthening cooperation. The President of Turkmenistan reaffirmed his commitment to the principles of mutual respect and stressed the importance of joint efforts in the international arena, including in the field of security and sustainable development.
The meeting discussed priorities for cooperation in trade, economic, energy, transport, and cultural and humanitarian spheres. Attention was paid to continuing Turkmen gas supplies to China and expanding cooperation in infrastructure, agriculture, and education.
The parties also considered Turkmenistan's initiative to create a Global Security Strategy under the auspices of the UN and expressed their readiness to discuss it at an international forum in Ashgabat in December 2025.
Following the meeting, a ceremony was held to announce the Agreement on Technical and Economic Cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the People's Republic of China.
