On 12 September, with the coordination of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, a national working meeting was held to update the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0). The event, organised by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), brought together representatives of government agencies, international organisations and the scientific community to develop a strategy for fulfilling commitments under the Paris Agreement. This was reported by IIC.

The key objective of the meeting was to familiarise participants with the methodology and stages of preparing the updated document. Discussions focused on plans to detail the country's commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, expand adaptation measures and include new sections on biodiversity, combating land degradation and climate finance mechanisms.

The work is being carried out as part of the UNDP's global ‘Climate Promise 2’ initiative, which has already enabled additional analysis of Turkmenistan's current commitments, identified existing gaps and determined new opportunities for strengthening climate action. The NDCs serve as the main instrument for implementing the Paris Agreement, reflecting national efforts to reduce emissions and adapt to climate change.
