Turkmenistan is developing a National Action Plan for the preparation and celebration of 2028 as the Year of International Law. This was reported on October 31 at a Cabinet of Ministers meeting by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov, according to the TDH news agency.

The plan covers 2027–2028 and is being developed in implementation of the UN General Assembly resolution “Year of International Law, 2028”. The document was adopted on July 24, 2026, at the initiative of Turkmenistan. Relevant ministries and government agencies have been involved in preparing the plan.

The initiative aims to strengthen international law, build trust between states and promote peaceful means of resolving international issues.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed Rashid Meredov to ensure the practical implementation of the UN resolution.
