Turkmenistan strengthens ties with international security organisations

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Rashid Meredov reported on the development of cooperation with international security structures during a government meeting on 18 July, according to the state news agency TDH.

The country continues to fulfil its international obligations on nuclear non-proliferation and is considering joining the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (2017). It is also proposed to hold a seminar in 2026 with the participation of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO).

Plans include strengthening cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and improving work with the MSM seismic station.

After hearing the report, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed that the proposed initiatives be implemented.
