Turkmenistan has large reserves of natural gas, which plays an important role in the development of the country and the region, as well as in global energy growth. This was announced by Andrea Stegher, President of the International Gas Union (IGU), at the OGT 2025 conference, commenting on the prospects for the ‘Galkynysh’ gas field, according to the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’.

According to A. Stegher, gas resources contribute to the growth of the population's well-being and regional integration and should be actively exported. The IGU President emphasised the importance of diversifying supplies, including to Europe, where negotiations on the supply of Turkmen gas are underway.

The international conference and exhibition ‘Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2025’ is being held in Ashgabat from 22 to 24 October with the support of the State Concerns ‘Türkmengaz’, ‘Türkmennebit’ and ‘Türkmengeologiýa’ and the Turkmen Energy Forum.
