From 22 to 23 October, the World Trade Organisation (WTO) headquarters in Geneva hosted a high-level forum on the ‘CAREC Region and the Multilateral Trading System: Deepening Integration in Central Asia and Beyond’, organised by the WTO in conjunction with the Asian Development Bank (ADB). This was reported by the IIC of Turkmenistan.
The event was attended by a delegation from Turkmenistan led by Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Babaniyaz Yalakov.
In his speech, he stressed the importance of the country's gradual integration into the multilateral trading system, focusing on the harmonisation of national legislation with WTO rules and the development of regional cooperation.
During the forum, the Turkmen delegation met with WTO leadership to discuss Turkmenistan's accession to the organisation, exchange experiences with its members, and explore opportunities for technical and advisory support.
Turkmenistan's participation in the forum was a significant step towards expanding cooperation with the WTO and strengthening the country's position in the regional and global economy.
