A delegation from Turkmenistan, under the leadership of Minister of Industry and Construction of Turkmenistan Toyguly Nurov, is participating in the 21st General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), which is being held from 23 to 27 November in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), according to the press service of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan.
Participants are discussing how industrial development can contribute to solving global problems, including climate change, food security and fair supply chains.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres, in his address to the conference participants, noted that industry plays a key role in strengthening economies, combating poverty and creating jobs.
By the end of the event, decisions are expected to be made that will determine UNIDO's work for the next two years and contribute to building a more sustainable and equitable world. Delegates will also consider draft resolutions, hear reports from the organisation and prepare for elections to the Industrial Development Board and the Programme and Budget Committee.
