The Mejlis of Turkmenistan and UNFPA Discuss Gender Equality Issues

Representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Turkmenistan held a working meeting to discuss activities planned for the second and third quarters of 2026 under the 2026–2027 Action Plan for the project “Supporting the Strengthening of Systems and Tools for the Promotion of Gender Equality in Legislation.” This was reported by the press service of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.
The parties reviewed issues related to improving measures aimed at ensuring gender equality, supporting families, protecting motherhood and childhood, and safeguarding women’s rights.
Special attention was given to legislative aspects. Participants discussed the alignment of national legislation with international conventions and standards, as well as further improvements to legal norms.
It was noted that Turkmenistan’s legislation in this area is being developed with due regard to international experience and contemporary requirements.
