Turkmenistan is increasing its gas exports through new projects

Turkmenistan is expanding international cooperation in the energy sector. The fourth phase of development has begun at the country’s largest gas field — “Galkynysh.” The project is seen as an important step in the development of the industry and in strengthening cooperation with the People’s Republic of China, AsmanNews reports.
A key role in the gas industry belongs to the Lebap region on the right bank of the Amu Darya. The main production facilities that ensure the export of Turkmen gas are concentrated here, including supplies via the Turkmenistan–China gas pipeline. One of the important infrastructure hubs remains the “Malay” field. Since 2009, gas extraction and transportation to foreign markets have been carried out in the region. Over this period, supplies have become a significant part of economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and China.
The launch of the fourth phase of “Galkynysh” is linked to the development of infrastructure in the Lebap region. The gas is processed and compressed, after which it is transported via an international gas pipeline to China over a distance of thousands of kilometers.
The Turkmenistan–China gas pipeline remains one of the largest energy projects in the region. It has expanded the country’s export capabilities and strengthened the diversification of gas supplies. The construction of new facilities, drilling of wells, and modernization of infrastructure continue in the country. This supports employment and regional development.
Experts note that the development of “Galkynysh” and “Malay” confirms Turkmenistan’s course toward strengthening its position as a major supplier of natural gas in the region.
