Turkmenistan's Education Minister Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev met with a delegation led by UN Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs Felipe Paullier in Ashgabat on 21 May. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.
According to the source, during the talks Gurbangeldiyev emphasised the importance of the meeting for the development of international cooperation in the field of youth policy and education.
F.Paullier expressed gratitude for the reception, noting that his visit to Turkmenistan was the first in Central Asia. He praised the activities of the Magtymguly Youth Organization and noted Turkmenistan's active role in promoting youth initiatives, including within the framework of the UN Central Asian Youth Dialogue.
The guest also stressed the importance of involving youth in decision-making and expressed gratitude for cooperation with the UN. He congratulated Turkmenistan on the 30th anniversary of neutrality and wished further success.
The Turkmen side noted that systematic work on the development of youth policy and its legal and regulatory support is underway in the country, important national documents are being adopted and international initiatives are being promoted.
