President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, AsmanNews reports.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked the guest for participating in the International Forum, timed to coincide with the International Year of Peace and Trust, the International Day of Neutrality, and the anniversary of the country’s neutral status. He emphasized that the presence of the Georgian delegation demonstrates support for Turkmenistan’s neutrality policy.

Irakli Kobakhidze expressed his gratitude for the invitation and warm welcome, noting that holding the forum reflects Turkmenistan’s commitment to strengthening peace and sustainable development. He also congratulated the Turkmen side on the International Day of Neutrality and the 30th anniversary of recognition of its neutral status.

The President of Turkmenistan recalled that the International Year of Peace and Trust coincided with the 80th anniversary of the United Nations’ founding and the anniversary of Turkmenistan being recognized as a neutral state. He expressed confidence that the forum would serve as a platform for exchanging views and discussing joint approaches to addressing pressing international issues.

It was noted that in recent years, Turkmenistan–Georgia relations have been developing actively, facilitated by regular high-level contacts. In this context, the significance of the negotiations previously held in Avaza as part of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries was emphasized.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides exchanged well-wishes and confirmed their readiness to continue developing bilateral cooperation.
