At the CIET 2025 conference, Deputy Minister of Energy Serdar Saparov announced the start of construction of a new combined cycle power plant on the Caspian coast, according to the online news resource TerraNews.

The plant will have a capacity of 1,574 MW. The project aims to modernise the energy system, improve energy security and expand electricity exports to the Caucasus countries and Turkey.

The use of combined technology will allow the reuse of thermal energy from waste gases, which will reduce fuel consumption and emissions, making production more environmentally friendly and energy efficient.

S. Saparov noted that the project reflects Turkmenistan's commitment to innovation and the development of ‘green’ energy as part of its sustainable growth strategy.
