On 2 June, the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A.Niyazov hosted a scientific and practical conference entitled ‘Ecological Culture – the Basis of Sustainable Development’. The event was timed to coincide with World Environment Day, the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality and the International Year of Peace and Trust. This was reported by the online publication ‘Turkmenistan: Golden Age’.
The plenary session discussed issues of environmental safety, methods of environmental education and international cooperation in this area.
The work then continued in four sections, where eco-policy, the role of science in educating young people, the principles of environmental safety and the influence of exact sciences on the innovative development of the country were considered.
Participants noted the contribution of the university to the training of ecologists and scientific research in the field of nature conservation. Special attention was paid to Turkmenistan's state programmes, such as the National Climate Change Strategy and the Forest Programme for 2021-2025. The importance of greening campaigns and the preservation of natural resources for future generations was also emphasised.
