Turkmenistan is completing the implementation of the international e-TIR system. The issue was discussed during an online coordination meeting involving representatives of the International Road Transport Union (IRU), the Association of International Road Carriers of Turkmenistan (THADA), and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), according to the news website Turkmenportal.
The parties reviewed technical aspects, international experience, and the steps required to launch the system. It was noted that the necessary organizational and technical framework has already been established, while preparations are underway for pilot transport operations in cooperation with the customs authorities of Central Asian countries.
e-TIR is a digital version of the international customs transit system developed by the IRU and the World Customs Organization. It enables the electronic processing of transit documents in countries participating in the TIR Convention.
