Turkmenistan laid the foundation of a mosque in a friendly state

Following the conclusion of the 12th Summit of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) in Gabala (Azerbaijan), the Heads of Delegations, including the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, took part in a solemn ceremony to lay the foundation stone of a mosque in the city of Fizuli. This was reported by the online news resource TerraNews.

The event was held via teleconference, and the new mosque will be a gift from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan. This event was a clear confirmation of the strengthening of fraternal ties between the Turkic states, based on their common history, culture and spiritual traditions.

The ceremony was opened by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who expressed his gratitude to Turkmenistan for this important gift. In turn, the National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasised the importance of the mosque for further strengthening the friendship and brotherhood between the two nations.

The muftis of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, who joined the ceremony via video link from the construction site, read ayats and duas, offering their best wishes. The symbolic start of construction was given by all the Heads of Delegations pressing the screen together, after which the participants were shown a special video about the mosque project.

The Turkmen and Azerbaijani peoples are united by their commitment to national traditions and cultural values, which are based on the Islamic religion. Mosques, as places of spiritual education, contribute to the formation of honesty, humanism and sincerity.

The project will be financed by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship, and the construction will be carried out by the private company ‘Aga-gurluşyk’.
