On 11 June, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited the Ak Bugday district of the Ahal velayat, where he familiarised himself with the progress of the wheat harvest and blessed the start of the grain harvesting campaign in the Magtymguly agricultural association. This was reported by the state news agency TDH.
The Head of State personally gave the symbolic start to the harvest by cutting a sheaf of wheat. The President of Turkmenistan also inspected an exhibition of agricultural products and new equipment used in the harvest.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasised the importance of high-tech equipment and strict adherence to harvesting deadlines, and gave relevant instructions.
The harvest is proceeding at an accelerated pace in all regions of Turkmenistan. Modern combine harvesters from manufacturers such as John Deere and Claas are being used, which allows for efficient harvesting.
The President of Turkmenistan noted the need to modernise agricultural infrastructure, including elevators, processing plants and water management facilities. The importance of timely payments to farmers was also emphasised.
In a conversation with one of the tenant farmers, the Head of State inquired about working conditions and crop yields. The farmer said that he grows wheat and cotton on 62 hectares of leased land and expects a good harvest. At the end of the visit, the Head of State presented gifts to the workers and wished them success in their work.
