On 23 January, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received US Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll and US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor. The meeting took place as part of their visit to Turkmenistan, AsmanNews reports.

The parties discussed prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation. The Head of State emphasised that Turkmenistan attaches importance to expanding its partnership with the United States. The President of Turkmenistan recalled his visit to Washington in November last year to participate in the ‘Central Asia-US’ Summit and meet with President Donald Trump. It was noted that the format serves as a platform for dialogue on security, economic, climate and energy issues.

During the negotiations, it was noted that Turkmen-American relations cover the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and humanitarian spheres. The intensification of political dialogue in recent years was emphasised. Particular attention was paid to trade and economic cooperation. Cooperation with American companies and the role of the Turkmen-American Business Council were discussed.

In conclusion, the parties exchanged wishes and expressed their readiness to further develop the partnership.
