Vepa Hajiyev, Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN, took part in a special event marking the annual review of the implementation of the Decade of Sustainable Transport, held on 7 July at UN Headquarters in New York. This was reported by IIC of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the diplomat emphasised Turkmenistan’s role in promoting the initiative for 2026–2035, noting the importance of developing transport infrastructure, digitalisation and strengthening international cooperation.

Participants also discussed support for landlocked developing countries in the transport sector and commended the initiative to create a Sustainable Transport Atlas, which is intended to serve as a tool for monitoring and sharing best practice within the framework of the global programme.
