Turkmenistan and the UN discussed the prospects for cooperation in Central Asia

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, held a working meeting on 13 May of the current year with the permanent coordinators of the UN in Central Asian countries. UN representatives from Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan took part in the discussion. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the talks, the sides noted the growing role of the UN in addressing key issues of regional development, including climate change, food security and digital transformation. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of joint projects, such as the establishment of the regional centre for climate technologies and the development of youth dialogue.

The participants of the meeting stressed the importance of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy in promoting stability in Central Asia. Turkmenistan reaffirmed its commitment to active participation in international initiatives aimed at sustainable development of the region.
