During a meeting between the Chairwoman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, and the Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matvienko, a Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the Federation Council of Russia, reports the online news resource TerraNews.

The purpose of the document is to strengthen cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries and to develop interparliamentary cooperation at a new level.

In addition, the parties emphasised the importance of intensifying the activities of interparliamentary friendship groups and organising joint events with the participation of relevant committees, as well as young and female deputies.
