On May 22, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Japan, Atadurdy Bayramov, held a meeting with former Japanese Prime Minister and head of the Liberal Democratic Party’s Headquarters for Economic Growth Strategy, Fumio Kishida. This was reported by the press service of the Turkmen diplomatic mission.
During the talks, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to strengthening political, interparliamentary, and interparty ties, as well as expanding cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan in the economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.
Special attention was given to the significance of the meeting between the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and Fumio Kishida, which took place in Japan in September 2022. The parties also noted telephone contacts with the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, which, according to both sides, demonstrate sustained attention to the development of bilateral relations.
In addition, the sides discussed specific areas for further expanding Turkmen-Japanese cooperation in the political and party spheres, issues related to supporting Japanese companies involved in major oil, gas, and chemical sector projects in Turkmenistan, as well as prospects for deepening economic cooperation.
