From 5 to 20 October, in Cairo, the World Para Powerlifting Championships were held, bringing together 527 participants from 70 countries. The Turkmenistan team won two silver and two bronze medals, according to the news website Asmannews.

The silver medals went to Muhammet Hojayev, who took second place among juniors in the weight category up to 54 kg, and Ovezgeldi Orjiyev, who competed in the category up to 97 kg among adults.

Sergey Meladze won bronze in the weight category up to 72 kg among adults.
