Turkmen grandmaster wins silver at chess tournament in Turkey

39-year-old international grandmaster Meylis Annaberdiyev from Turkmenistan won silver at a prestigious international chess tournament in Cappadocia, Turkey. The tournament, which brought together 78 chess players from 10 countries, was held according to the Swiss system in 9 rounds. This was reported by the online publication ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’.

Among the participants of the tournament were 3 international grandmasters, 11 FIDE masters and 10 international masters. The Turkmen athlete scored 6.5 points, losing first place to Iranian international master Seyed Kian Poormosavi. Third place went to international master Diego Rodri Flores Quillas from Peru.

This achievement was complemented by Annaberdiyev's successful performance at the Turkish Team Championship in Ankara, where he won a silver medal as part of the ‘Hukukçu Fenerbahçe’ team.
