A regional event was recently held in Chisinau as part of the ‘Ready4Trade Central Asia’ project, organised by the International Trade Centre with the support of the European Union. The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova, which hosted the event, took an active part in the event. This was reported by the online publication ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’.

The ‘Peer Learning Initiative’ format allowed representatives of customs authorities and the business sector of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Moldova and Turkey to exchange knowledge and best practices. The main focus was on improving interaction with participants in foreign economic activity, introducing authorised economic operator (AEO) programmes, and modernising customs procedures to increase the efficiency of international trade.

A session on Moldova's experience in implementing the AEO programme was of particular interest. Participants learned about successful cases of Moldovan companies that have already obtained the relevant certificates and discussed the role of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in developing this initiative. The seminar contributed to strengthening regional cooperation and finding new solutions for creating favourable conditions in the field of customs regulation.
