Tbilisi hosted a conference marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality

On 21 November 2025, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia held an international conference in Tbilisi dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality. This was reported by the press service of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Parliament of Georgia, heads of state structures, heads of diplomatic missions and international organisations accredited in the country. Also participating were a Turkmen delegation, scientists from the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, employees of the Georgian National Centre of Manuscripts, the writing community, rectors and teachers of universities, the private sector and the media.

Opening the meeting, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Georgia, D. Seyitmammedov recalled that the 30th anniversary of Neutrality is being celebrated at the international level. He recalled that the UN has recognised Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality status three times.

Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister of Georgia A. Khvtisiashvili congratulated Turkmenistan on the anniversary and noted that the policy of neutrality makes a significant contribution to maintaining international peace. He emphasised that relations between Georgia and Turkmenistan are based on mutual respect and cover politics, economics, transport, energy, education, culture and sport.

Rector of the Georgian Technical University D. Gurgenidze noted the important role of cultural and humanitarian exchange in strengthening bilateral cooperation and creating conditions for long-term academic ties.

The event ended with a concert by Turkmen performers. Guests were also offered national dishes of Turkmenistan.
