On 20 August, a meeting of the Council of Elders of the Halk Maslahaty and the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship was held in Ashgabat, chaired by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. This was reported by the state news agency TDH.

The meeting discussed organisational issues, the activities of the Council in the regions, as well as preparations for important events – the celebration of the 34th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence and the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty in September.

The participants emphasised the role of the older generation in strengthening national unity, educating young people and supporting state initiatives. They noted the successes in agriculture, the economy and the social sphere, as well as the Charitable Foundation's contribution to the protection of children and the development of humanitarian projects.

The meeting concluded with wishes of success to the new members of the Council and a call to actively participate in preparations for upcoming state events.
