On 20 June, during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Chairwoman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, reported on the current work of the national parliament. This was reported by the state news agency TDH.
In particular, draft laws are being developed to improve civil and legal legislation, create a state register of voters, regulate issues of scientific intellectual property and virtual assets, and update customs regulations. This work is being carried out in accordance with the Constitution of Turkmenistan, state programmes and proposals from relevant departments.
In addition, letters of credence were accepted from the Slovenian ambassador, and a representative of the Mejlis travelled to Warsaw to discuss partnership issues with the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights.
After hearing the information, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the importance of systematic work to modernise the country's legal framework.
