On 16 May, the Chairman of the Mejlis Dunyagozel Gulmanova held a meeting with the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran headed by the Chairman of the Iran-Turkmen Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group, Chairman of the Construction Commission of the Shura Majlis of Iran Abduljalal Iri. This was reported by the press service of the national parliament.

According to the source, within the framework of the meeting the sides paid special attention to the importance of inter-parliamentary partnership in the established relations between the two countries. They also emphasised the importance of working visits of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Iran.

In addition, special attention was paid to Turkmenistan's initiative to adopt the UN General Assembly Resolution ‘2025 - International Year of Peace and Trust’. The Turkmen side expressed gratitude for supporting this proposal.

The sides also exchanged views on the current state of political and diplomatic relations and considered the importance of joint efforts to maintain peace and build confidence between countries and peoples.
