On 28 September, the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, at the 16th meeting of the International Association for Ahal-Teke Horse Breeding, highlighted the Association’s role in preserving purebred Ahal-Teke horses and promoting the breed worldwide. This was reported by the news agency TDH.

The Head of State emphasised that the preservation and promotion of the national heritage is one of the priorities of state policy. According to him, Ahal-Teke racehorses are a treasure of world culture and are distinguished by their grace, agility and loyalty to humans.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the foundations have been laid in Turkmenistan for the further development of the horse-breeding sector. The International Ahal-Teke Horse Breeding Association, established on the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, brings together 213 Turkmen and around 40 foreign representatives.

The Head of State also highlighted the horse breeding and equestrian events held in 2026 in Turkmenistan and abroad. These included an open meeting of the International Association for Ahal-Teke Horse Breeding, the World Equestrian Championships and the Ahal-Teke Horse Beauty Contest in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The President of Turkmenistan announced that the grand opening of the modernised Ahal-Teke Equestrian Complex would take place on 29 September at the foot of the Kopetdag Mountains.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated that work would continue to increase the Ahal-Teke herd and promote the breed worldwide.
