Referees from Turkmenistan officiated the first-round match of the qualifying round for the 2027 AFC Youth Football Cup (under-20s) between the national teams of Japan and Kuwait. This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal.

The match was refereed by international referee Resul Mammedov, with Ahmet Begnazarov serving as the assistant referee.

The Group ‘G’ match took place on 31 August at the National Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh (Cambodia). Japan won the match 4–0.
