President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the President of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe, Carlos Manuel Vila-Nova, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in events marking the International Day of Neutrality and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, TDH reports.

At the beginning of the talks, the parties noted the significance of the current visit and the participation of the Sao Tome and Principe delegation in the International Forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, as well as to the anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutral status.

Carlos Manuel Vila-Nova expressed his gratitude for the invitation and emphasized the importance of participating in the forum. He also congratulated Turkmenistan on the International Day of Neutrality and the 30th anniversary of its permanent neutrality.

Serdar Berdimuhamedow highlighted that the presence of foreign delegations confirms support for Turkmenistan’s neutrality policy. According to him, the forum will serve as a platform for exchanging views on issues of peace, trust, and finding common approaches to contemporary challenges.

The President of Turkmenistan expressed confidence that the visit will strengthen bilateral relations. He recalled his participation in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, held in August at the National Tourism Zone “Avaza.”

The parties also noted prospects for cooperation in political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and humanitarian spheres. It was emphasized that Turkmenistan builds relations with foreign partners based on the legal status of neutrality recognized by the UN.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the heads of state confirmed their readiness to develop multilateral cooperation and wished each other success in their future work.
