On 21 May, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Armenia Muhammetgeldi Ayazov delivered a speech at the Shirakatsi Lyceum. The event was held within the framework of the celebration of the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development established by UNESCO. This was reported by the press service of the Turkmen diplomatic mission.

Students and teachers of the lyceum, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Armenia, as well as parents of schoolchildren took part in the solemn programme.

The key element of the event was the ‘Shirakatsi Talks’ discussion platform, where the invited diplomats and ambassadors presented reports on the topical issues of the international agenda - diplomacy, innovations, sustainable development and youth leadership.

The Turkmen diplomat's speech was timed to coincide with the International Year of Peace and Trust declared by the UN, as well as the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's Permanent Neutrality. In his report, Ambassador Ayazov highlighted the main priorities of Turkmenistan's foreign policy, emphasised the role of positive neutrality in strengthening regional stability and dwelt in detail on the development of Turkmen-Armenian relations.

Special attention in his speech was paid to Turkmenistan's interaction with international organisations, including the UN and UNESCO, as well as peace-loving initiatives of the country aimed at building confidence, peace and security at both regional and global levels.
