Three students from the Oguz Han University of Engineering and Technology of Turkmenistan are taking part in a one-year study programme at Tsukuba University (Japan) as part of a Memorandum of Understanding on academic exchange and cooperation between the two universities. This was reported by the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’.

The programme runs from 1 October 2025 to 31 August 2026. The participants are third-year students who have excelled in their studies: Merdan Allamyradov (Faculty of Cyber-Physical Systems), Selbi Mammetaliyeva and Shasenem Shaberdiyeva (Faculty of Innovation Economics).

During the programme, the students studied the humanities, social and international studies, as well as engineering disciplines. They attended specialist lectures, learnt Japanese, and took part in academic events and cultural programmes at the University of Tsukuba.

Studying in an international academic environment enabled the students to develop their intercultural communication skills, improve their language proficiency and gain new educational experiences.

As part of the programme, the students also showcased the culture and traditions of Turkmenistan, gave presentations on the country’s history and national heritage, and introduced Japanese lecturers and students to traditional Turkmen souvenirs.

In addition, the students collaborated with the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Japan and helped organise official events.

The academic exchange programme helps to strengthen cooperation between the Oguz Han University of Engineering and Technology of Turkmenistan and the University of Tsukuba, as well as to develop educational ties between the two countries.
