New trade hub on the border: Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan expand mutual trade

The President of Turkmenistan and President of Uzbekistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, took part in the opening ceremony of the Turkmen-Uzbek border trade centre via video link. This was reported by Turkmenportal, citing the newspaper ‘Turkmenistan’.

The ceremony was held after the conclusion of negotiations between the leaders of the two countries in Tashkent. The ceremony was attended by aksakals from Dashoguz velayat and Khorezm region, representatives of the public and local residents.

The project aims to stimulate the growth of mutual trade, attract investment and create conditions for the exchange of experience between the business communities of the two countries.

After the teleconference, the delegations of the two countries familiarised themselves with the infrastructure of the centre and the goods presented on the Turkmen and Uzbek sides. As part of the event, cars were also handed over to the centre on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan.
