New Ambassador of Bahrain appointed in Turkmenistan

On 15 September, Chairwoman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova accepted the credentials of Bassam Ahmed Ali Marzouk, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Turkmenistan (residing in Ankara). This was reported by the press service of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.

The Chairwoman of the Mejlis congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment to this high diplomatic post on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and wished him success in his work to strengthen bilateral relations.

During the meeting, the Head of the diplomatic mission was briefed on the priority areas of the country's domestic and foreign policy, the structure of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and multilateral efforts to modernise legislation.

The parties discussed the current level of political and diplomatic relations between the two countries, prospects for the development of economic, cultural and parliamentary cooperation, strengthening peace and trust between peoples, as well as the importance of joining forces to expand the scope of good-neighbourly cooperation.

The Ambassador congratulated the successful organisation of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in the ‘Avaza’ National Tourist Zone in August this year, emphasising the global significance of this event.

At the end of the meeting, the Head of the diplomatic mission noted that it was a great honour for him to represent his country in Turkmenistan, which is recognised in the region as a centre for maintaining peace and promoting effective cooperation for the benefit of universal prosperity.
