Negotiations with a UN-Habitat Representative Held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan

On May 25, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova and Erfan Ali, Regional Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) for Eastern Europe and Central Asia. He arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the 25th Multidisciplinary International Exhibition and Conference “White City Ashgabat,” according to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The parties discussed the development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and UN-Habitat. It was noted that the interaction has a stable and consistent character within the framework of cooperation with the United Nations. The implementation of previously reached agreements and the further expansion of partnership were also discussed. Particular attention was paid to the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Turkmenistan and UN-Habitat, which establishes the legal framework for cooperation.
The Turkmen side emphasized the importance of preparing the draft Country Cooperation Programme for 2026–2030. The document is expected to define the main areas of interaction. The parties also considered issues related to further consultations and the expansion of practical cooperation.
