The National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the Minister of Industry and Advanced Technologies of the United Arab Emirates, Director General of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Al Mazroui and UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Al Sayegh on 14 May. This was reported by the state news agency TDH.

The sides confirmed mutual interest in expanding partnership, emphasising the proximity of positions on key issues on the international and regional agenda. The guests conveyed warm greetings from the UAE leadership, and Hero Arkadag, in turn, sent reciprocal wishes and invited the UAE leadership to visit Turkmenistan.

Prospects of cooperation in energy, transport, industry and high technologies were discussed. Particular attention was paid to strengthening cooperation in the oil and gas sector. Chairman of Khalk Maslakhaty stressed that two important documents were signed on 14 May with the participation of state concerns Türkmennebit, Türkmengaz, Malaysian company Petronas and ADNOC.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed to establish an Intergovernmental Committee on oil and gas and chemical sectors. Coordination between the foreign policy departments of the two countries was also emphasised.

At the end of the meeting, the sides reaffirmed their readiness to develop bilateral relations on the principles of equality, respect and trust.
