A concert titled “Path of Friendship” featuring performers from the Gaziza Zhubanova Aktobe Regional Philharmonic was held at the Magtymguly National Music and Drama Theatre in Ashgabat. The artists introduced the audience to Kazakhstan’s musical and dance traditions, according to the IIC of Turkmenistan.

The concert was opened by Nurlan Nogayev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Turkmenistan.

The programme featured the “Dauys” vocal ensemble, the “Akku” dance ensemble and an orchestra of Kazakh folk instruments. The performers presented folk songs in modern arrangements and traditional dance pieces.

A special highlight was a terma performance based on poems by Magtymguly Pyragy, delivered by soloist Oral-Kosai Baisengir.

The programme also included works dedicated to Turkmen culture. Nurken Ashirov, artistic director of the Akhmet Zhubanov Orchestra and an Honoured Cultural Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, performed his original “Variation-Fantasy” based on the Turkmen folk song “Bibijan”, as well as the overture to the opera “Leyli-Mejnun” by Danatar Ovezov.
