On 16 July, during his visit to Azerbaijan, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, visited the Alley of Honour in Baku. Hero Arkadag laid a wreath at the grave of the national leader of the Republic of Azerbaijan, founder of the independent state, Heydar Aliyev, expressing his respect for his memory. This was reported by the news website Asmannews.

During his visit, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also honoured the memory of the outstanding scientist and ophthalmologist, Academician Zarifa Aliyeva, by laying flowers on her grave.

Later, the National Leader of the Turkmen people visited Victory Park in the capital of Azerbaijan, where an honor guard was organised in his honour. Hero Arkadag laid a wreath at the memorial complex and learned about the history of the park.
