On 8 October, the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the OSCE, Hemra Amannazarov, held a meeting with the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO), Robert Floyd. This was reported by the press service of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Austria.
Robert Floyd warmly recalled his visit to Ashgabat and his meeting with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in July 2024, noting the country's contribution to strengthening peace and security.
The Turkmen delegation reaffirmed its commitment to nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, and recalled the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.
The parties discussed preparations for the 30th anniversary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, which will be held in 2026, and expressed their readiness to jointly mark this date. Issues related to the modernisation of the PS44 seismic station located in Turkmenistan were also considered.
The meeting confirmed the strengthening of the partnership between Turkmenistan and the CTBTO and their shared commitment to the goals of peace and global security.
