On 27 September, a solemn ceremony to raise the Flag of Turkmenistan took place on Azadi Square in Tehran (Islamic Republic of Iran). The event was initiated by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Iran to mark the 34th anniversary of the country's independence, according to the online news resource TerraNews.

The ceremony included the performance of the National Anthem of Turkmenistan and the song ‘Öňe, öňe, diňe öňe jan Watan Türkmenistan.’ Among the participants were representatives of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Tehran Municipality, local government bodies, as well as residents and guests of the city.

Azadi Square, the largest in the Iranian capital, covers an area of about 50,000 square metres. In its centre stands the 45-metre-high Azadi Tower.
