The National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, has congratulated the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, on the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence. This was reported by the TDH news agency.

The message highlights the historical significance of independence for Turkmenistan and its role in strengthening the country’s sovereignty, statehood and socio-economic development.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that, over the years of independence, Turkmenistan has implemented large-scale reforms in various sectors. These include the development of digitalisation and the innovation-driven economy, science, education and culture, as well as the construction of new infrastructure facilities.

Significant events mentioned include the laying of the foundation stone for a new settlement in the territory of the Ymambaba Gengeshlik in the Yoloten etrap of the Mary velayat, the opening of the ‘Mary–Turkmenabat’ section of the ‘Ashgabat–Turkmenabat’ motorway, the maiden voyage of the dry cargo vessel ‘Gadamly’, and the start of work on the fourth phase of development of the ‘Galkynyş’ gas field.

The address also highlighted the decisions taken at the meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, which took place on the eve of Independence Day. The forum adopted the ‘National Strategy for Industrial Development of Turkmenistan for 2030–2045’, the national concept ‘International Law and the Neutrality of Turkmenistan’ and the ‘State Programme on State Youth Policy in Turkmenistan for the period up to 2031’.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also emphasised the importance of Turkmenistan’s status of permanent neutrality, which has been recognised three times by the UN General Assembly.

The message highlighted Turkmenistan’s international initiatives, supported by the UN General Assembly, including the resolutions on ‘The role and importance of a policy of neutrality in maintaining and strengthening international peace, security and sustainable development’ and the ‘Year of International Law, 2028’.

In conclusion, the National Leader of the Turkmen people wished President Serdar Berdimuhamedov good health, success and further achievements in his efforts to develop the country and strengthen its international standing.
