The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has paid an official visit to the French Republic. This is reported by the state news agency TDH.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held talks with French President Emmanuel Macron and took part in the Turkmen-French Economic Forum.

The sides discussed Turkmenistan's foreign policy course, in particular its neutrality, as well as issues of sustainable development and prospects of cooperation with the European Union. As part of the visit, agreements were signed between Turkmen state structures and a number of French companies, indicating interest in joint work in the field of environmentally friendly technologies and digital solutions.

A separate part of the programme was a meeting between Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Martin Bouygues, head of the French Bouygues Corporation. During the talks, the sides discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation, including the implementation of new construction projects in Turkmenistan, as well as the opening of a French language school.

On the margins of the economic forum, the sides considered areas of cooperation in such sectors as energy, agro-industrial complex, tourism and training of qualified personnel.

The visit ended with a visit to a thematic exhibition, where the economic and cultural potential of Turkmenistan was presented. The intention to hold an international forum in Ashgabat in December 2025 was also confirmed.
