United Nations Deputy Secretary-General and Head of the Geneva Office, Tatiana Valovaya, highly praised Turkmenistan’s achievements on the international and regional stage, according to the news agency «Turkmenistan: Golden Age».
At the opening of the 30th Anniversary of Neutrality Monument in Ashgabat, she emphasized the country’s successes in strengthening statehood, ensuring stability, and developing cooperation with other nations.
Valovaya noted that over three decades, Turkmenistan has built a solid foundation for its statehood, achieved political stability, and recorded significant economic and social progress. According to her, the country has established itself as a reliable partner in addressing regional and global challenges.
She paid particular attention to Turkmenistan’s contribution to upholding the nuclear non-proliferation regime, including through the Treaty on a Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone in Central Asia, as well as to international environmental cooperation, including efforts concerning the Aral Sea.
Valovaya highlighted the importance of Turkmenistan’s unique experience in preventive diplomacy. The UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy in Ashgabat has been operating successfully for 18 years, helping to prevent conflicts and strengthen peace. The country’s strategic location and neutrality enable it to act as a mediator between East and West.
