Turkmenistan will host the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC 3), which will be held in the ‘Avaza’ National Tourist Zone. The forum will be attended by representatives of 32 countries and more than 570 million people. This was reported by the IIC of Turkmenistan.

The conference, held once every ten years, will serve as a platform for discussing the problems of landlocked countries and defining the Avaza Programme of Action until 2034.

The main theme of the conference is ‘Ensuring progress through partnership’, which is particularly relevant in the context of the current geopolitical instability and its impact on the global economy and trade.

Previous conferences were held in Almaty (2003) and Vienna (2014), resulting in action programmes for the development and integration of LLDCs into global trade.

The current forum will include forums for civil society, youth, business and parliamentarians, exhibitions, national days for Central Asian countries, as well as meetings of women leaders and other events.

The holding of the conference in Turkmenistan confirms its active role in the international arena and close cooperation with the UN.
