The Turkmen-Chinese Business Forum was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan. Participants discussed the development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, according to the website AsmanNews.

Five areas were considered during the plenary sessions: energy, industry and construction, transport and logistics, digital technologies, and agriculture. The parties discussed expanding cooperation in the gas chemical industry and in renewable energy – solar and wind.

In the transport sector, the focus was on the ‘Revival of the Great Silk Road’ strategy and China’s ‘Belt and Road’ initiative. The Turkmenbashi International Seaport and new road infrastructure were identified as key points for the development of logistics cooperation.

In the field of digital technologies, the parties expressed interest in joint projects in the field of artificial intelligence. Earlier, the Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan and the State Committee for Development and Reform of the PRC signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in this area. The city of Arkadag was cited as an example of an advanced urban development project with a well-developed digital infrastructure.

Following the forum, the participants confirmed their intention to increase trade turnover and implement joint projects.
