‘Korean Culture Week’ is to take place in Ashgabat this November. This was announced by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Turkmenistan following a meeting between Ambassador Lee Won-jae and the Turkmen Minister of Culture, Gurbanmyrat Myrataliyev, according to the news website Turkmenportal.

The parties discussed the expansion of cultural cooperation. Lee Won-jae called for attention to be paid to the preparation of the event and for assistance to be provided in organising it.

According to the Ambassador, the first visit by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, to the Republic of Korea, scheduled for September, will give further impetus to the development of cultural ties.

The first summit between the leaders of the Central Asian states and the Republic of Korea will also take place in Seoul on 16–17 September. The presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are expected to attend.
