On October 30, an environmental tree-planting campaign was held in Ashgabat as part of the Indian initiative “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (“A Tree in Honor of Mother”). According to the Arzuw.news, the event was organized by the Embassy of India and the Ashgabat city administration.

Participants included Indian Ambassador Bandaru Wilsonbabu, Deputy Mayor of Ashgabat Yazgeldi Bekmyradov, representatives of the Indian diaspora, and citizens of Turkmenistan.

Bandaru Wilsonbabu explained that the campaign is part of the “Mission LiFE” (“Lifestyle for Environment”) movement, launched by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2021. In 2024, the initiative proposed planting trees in honor of mothers and Mother Earth. The ambassador also reaffirmed India's readiness to develop cooperation with Ashgabat in the fields of environmental protection and sustainable development.

Yazgeldi Bekmyradov highlighted the importance of such events in strengthening bilateral friendship and expressed interest in implementing joint projects on greening and forest restoration.

At the end of the campaign, participants were given saplings and offered Indian cuisine.
