On 9–10 June 2026, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the French Republic and the Portuguese Republic, M. Charyyev, participated in state events marking Portugal Day, the Day of Camões, and the Day of the Portuguese Communities. The celebrations were held on Terceira Island (Azores), according to the information agency “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.

Within the framework of the program, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan took part in the reception ceremony for the diplomatic corps hosted by the President of the Portuguese Republic, as well as in a ceremonial military parade involving the Armed Forces of Portugal and other events dedicated to the national holiday.

During the ceremony, alongside heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the Portuguese Republic, he greeted the President of the Portuguese Republic, António José Seguro, and conveyed congratulations on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

On the sidelines of the events, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan held meetings with representatives of the diplomatic corps and officials of the Portuguese Republic. The parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation.

The participation of the Turkmen side in these events confirmed the friendly nature of relations between Turkmenistan and the Portuguese Republic and the mutual interest in their further development.
