A round table discussion entitled ‘Health of Society - the Key to Peace and Prosperity’ was held at the ‘Archabil’ Hotel in Ashgabat. The event was organised with the support of the Government of Turkmenistan and the EU Central Asia Drug Action Programme (CADAP). This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal.

Representatives of government agencies, civil society and international organisations took part in the discussion. Participants looked at ways to prevent drug use, inter-agency cooperation and youth involvement.

CADAP and EU representatives noted the importance of joint efforts to promote a culture of health and trust. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan presented initiatives to create a safe environment, the Ministry of Health shared its experience in early detection of addiction, and the Ministry of Education presented approaches to building resilience among young people.

The effectiveness of Turkmenistan's state strategy in combating drugs was also highlighted. Special attention was paid to the preparation of the Regional Youth Forum, which will be held in September and will serve as a platform for strengthening partnerships and promoting healthy lifestyles among young people in the region.
